Upcoming: CILIP Y&H Members’ Day and AGM in Scarborough, 21 July 2017

We are pleased to invite you to a jam-packed Members’ Day in the sunny seaside town of Scarborough. This year we have two presentations, both adding an international flavour, plus two tours – of a public and HE library – and lunch will be provided. We do also have to hold our AGM, but don’t let that put you off!

This year, the position of Candidate Support Officer will be vacant, as our current CSO is stepping down at the end of July, but if there are any positions you’d like to apply for, or if you’re interested in joining the committee to help out, we’d be delighted to hear from you. If you have any questions, or wish to submit any items for the agenda of the AGM, please email us by Monday 17th July.

11:00am – tour of Scarborough Library and Information Centre (max capacity: 20)

11:45pm – CILIP Y&H AGM

12:15pm – talk by Leanne Young about winning the Travelling Librarian award to visit US university libraries and find out about their distance learning initiatives

12:45pm – lunch (provided)

1:30pm – talk by Katherine Coussement about her work establishing a community library in Kerala, India

2:15pm – head up to Coventry University’s Scarborough campus (we will provide transport for people coming on this tour, as the campus is roughly 20 minutes’ walk from the public library)

2:30pm – tour of the newly established campus library with librarian Katie Mann (max capacity: 20)

3:30pm – head back to central Scarborough, followed by optional ice cream / fish & chips / pub (depending on group preference)

Travel: Scarborough Central Library is about three minutes’ walk from Scarborough Railway Station. The town centre is well served by buses, or the closest high-capacity car parks are the Palm Court multi-storey or the Brunswick multi-storey.

Registration: Please book via Eventbrite. There are three types of ticket to allow you to choose which parts of the event you want to attend – please select all tickets you require, then proceed to booking.


CILIP members and non-members are welcome to attend any combination of the parts of this event, though only members can vote in the AGM.

Please also contact us in advance if you have any accessibility concerns, so we can check arrangements.

If you have any dietary requirements for lunch, please let us know during registration. If you register after 17th July, please be warned we may not be able to accommodate your requests, but we will do our best.
